NAN: Bathing Routines for Preschool Children

During the preschool years children can learn to bathe themselves with supervision. While they may need assistance with washing their hair, a preschooler can generally clean their face, neck, ears, fingernails and private areas with coaching and supervision.  Some preschoolers may prefer to take showers instead of baths. Nannies should be in the bathroom while the preschooler showers or bathes to supervise and provide assistance if needed.

The number of baths or showers a preschooler has will depend on the parent’s preferences. Some preschoolers may be bathed nightly while others just a few times per week.
