When it comes to discipline there is no one size fits all approach. Since each child has her own temperament, personality and motivators, the same discipline approach will not work for every child. In fact, the same approach won’t work with the same child all of the time. For discipline to be effective, the approach must be individualized, personalized and customized to the child and sometimes even to the situation.
Regardless of what method of discipline is used to guide the child, the nanny should be consistent, calm and firm when guiding a child’s behavior. Her verbal and nonverbal messages should be aligned and communication should be clear and appropriate to the child’s level of understanding.
