Routines foster a sense of safety and security in children. Routines help infants to trust their adult caregivers as they develop an awareness of what they can expect next in their day. When activities happen in the same order, around the same time each day, in the same way, infants feel safe and secure.
As infants begin to understand their routine they’ll demonstrate an awareness of being ready for what comes next. An older infant may pull off his socks, for example, when he anticipates that it’s time for his bath.
